Perilla frutescens. A fragrant, easy-to-grow herb known as green shiso, widely used in Asian cuisine. Plants produce lush green leaves with a unique flavor often described as a blend of basil, mint, and citrus. Excellent for fresh use, garnishes, and cooking. Fast-growing and productive, perilla is well-suited for garden beds, herb gardens, and containers. Also attracts pollinators and can self-seed if allowed to flower.

Planting Tips:

Keep soil lightly moist but not soggy. Thin seedlings to allow proper airflow and healthy growth. Pinch back plants regularly to encourage bushier growth and increased leaf production. Harvest leaves as needed. Allow some plants to flower if you want them to reseed for next season.
