Brassica napus. Dwarf Siberian is a compact, cold-tolerant kale variety producing tender blue-green leaves with gently curled edges. The flavorful leaves can be harvested young for salads and baby greens or allowed to mature for cooking. Its excellent tolerance of cool weather and frost makes it especially valuable for fall gardens, extending the fresh-food harvest into colder weather, and overwintering where conditions allow or with protection.

🌱 Growing Information How to Grow Dwarf Siberian Kale from Seed

Planting Depth: ¼–½ inch
Seed Spacing: 4–6 inches; thin to 12–18 inches
Row Spacing: 18–24 inches
Germination Time: 5–10 days
Days to Harvest: 50–60 days

Planting Tips:
Sow Dwarf Siberian kale seeds directly outdoors in early spring or start indoors 4–6 weeks before the last expected frost. For a fall and cold-weather crop, sow again in mid- to late summer. Plant in fertile, well-drained soil and keep evenly watered. Harvest individual outer leaves as needed, allowing the center of the plant to continue producing. Cool temperatures and light frost can improve the flavor of kale. For winter harvesting in colder regions, protection with a cold frame, low tunnel, or similar cover can help extend the season.

🌱 Excellent for fall and cold-weather gardens, fresh greens, cooking, freezing, and extending the home food harvest into winter with protection.
