Planting Tips:
Sow Crimson Sweet Watermelon seeds directly outdoors after all danger of frost has passed and the soil has thoroughly warmed. Watermelons thrive in warm weather and need a sunny location with fertile, well-drained soil.
Plant seeds approximately 1 inch deep and allow plenty of room for the vigorous vines to spread. Keep the soil consistently moist during early growth, flowering, and fruit development. Water deeply at the base of the plants when possible.
As the melons approach maturity, watch for several signs of ripeness. The tendril nearest the fruit typically dries and turns brown, the underside of the watermelon develops a creamy yellow ground spot, and the rind becomes less glossy.
Harvest ripe melons by cutting the stem rather than pulling the fruit from the vine.
