White Egyptian Walking Onions
Egyptian Walking Onions are a cold-hardy, perennial onion that earns its name by "walking" across your garden over time. Instead of seeds, these white-topset onions grow clusters of small bulbils at the tips of their stalks. As the stalks grow heavy, they bend to the soil, where the bulbils take root and form new plants—effectively allowing them to multiply and migrate on their own. This heirloom variety offers three edible parts: the greens, the underground bulbs, and the tangy topsets. Known for their bold, pungent flavor, Egyptian onions are perfect for cooking or using fresh. Once planted, they’ll return year after year with little effort, making them a favorite for sustainable and permaculture gardens.
